| Nature of Business | Academy press began actual commercial printing in December 1965 with a four-unit Web-offset press. The first publication from Academy press was the Magazine called Flamingo. In the early days, many potential customers had their headqu a r ters overseas and were accustomed to meeting their printing needs in Europe. They did not believe a Nigerian Printin g co mpany could do a job as good as those done in Europe. Fortunately, the Nigeria civil war placed restrictions on im por ted finished products to the country. During this period, many who would have look abroad for their Printing needs came to appreciate the good quality work Academy Press was doing. The change of heart was also aided by Mr. David Yell op's persu asive selling as he visited potential customers in the United Kingdom and Educated them on the wisdom of pri nting with A cademy Press and indeed in Nigeria |
